ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, along with senior federal and regional officials, inaugurated the Mesob One-Stop Service Center on Saturday, a facility designed to streamline access to government services through advanced digital technologies.

The new center consolidates services from multiple federal institutions into a single location, enabling citizens to access essential services without the need for multiple office visits, long queues or cumbersome paperwork.

The initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to adopt digital governance.

“Addressing the areas that cause frustration for our citizens in service administration is a priority for us,” Abiy said in a social media post. “Today, we inaugurated the Mesob One-Stop Service Center as part of this commitment.”

Twelve federal government agencies have joined the pilot project, which has officially begun operations, offering 41 public services ranging from licensing to digital ID registration.

All services are delivered through a fully digital system.

The participating institutions are:

  • National ID Ethiopia
  • Immigration and Citizenship Service
  • Document Authentication and Registration Service
  • Ministry of Revenue
  • Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration
  • Ministry of Labour and Skills
  • Ethiopian Investment Commission
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Educational Assessment and Examination Service
  • Ethio Post
  • Commercial Bank of Ethiopia
  • Ethio Telecom

All institutions provide integrated digital connectivity services to ensure seamless and efficient service delivery.

“There are three critical elements that define this new center: the transformation of an old, dilapidated building into a modern environment; the integration of locally developed software to streamline services; and the preparation of young professionals to deliver dignified and efficient service,” Abiy added.

Officials emphasized that the Mesob One-Stop Service Center represents a significant step toward modernizing public services in Ethiopia, aiming to enhance transparency, reduce bureaucratic delays and improve citizens’ access to government resources.
